Bangkok Airways flies twice a day from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport to Trat. 08.00 and 16.25, and the flight takes arround 1 hour and 5 minutes.

Direct door-to-door minibus transfers from Trat airport to Koh Chang island resorts are also available at the airport.

From Bangkok the easiest and most economical way to get to the Koh Chang ferry piers, is to take a bus from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai), please see the time table bellow :

The Centrepoint ferry pier is located approximately 5 km from Laem Ngop a return is just 100 baht (free for the vehicles) but the ferries only go every hour when they are in time and are extremely slow.

The Thammachat Bay (Ao Thammachat), is located around 15 km from Laem Ngop. This is the fastest ferry to Koh Chang island and operates every 40 minutes during the high season. It takes between 25 mn and 45 mn to reach koh chang island. Tips: The one way ticket cost the same price as the round trip ticket… so make your choice.

During the daytime, you can take a Songthaew (local taxi) on its way around the main road. They are also available at the pier, but they will attempt you to make you rent the full Taxi for 600 baht if there are not enough people to fill it, the other option is to stay and wait a long time until the next ferry arrive for them to decide if there is a sufficient amount of passenger to leave.

Small motorcycles can be hired for 200-300B and cars are also available for rent. Tip: there is usually no insurance, so drive with caution and if you never drive a motorcycle before we recommend you to take a taxi to visit the island.

There are plenty of banks, ATM and stores along the main road on the west coast of the island from White Sand Beach down to Bangbao.

There are many restaurants at the beach or on the road open both daytime and evening. You also can find a few noodle shops open after midnight.

Usually plates will not come at once or in any particular order. But it is part of the charm of the land of smile.

30-day visas on arrival are available at airports and 15 days only if you cross a border by bus such as Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Malaysia.

60-day tourist Visas are also obtainable at any Thai Embassy or Consulate before traveling. As regulations can always change, it is better to verify with the closest Thai Embassy.
