Koh Chang island is the right place to learn scuba diving, particularly scuba diving for beginners. The excellent conditions and infrastructure make the training enjoyable. Try the one-day ‘Discover Scuba Diving’ course, which starts from 4000 baht up to 4500 baht. The four-day padi open water certification course will costs 14000 baht. Other PADI courses available are Open Water Advanced, rescue diver, EFR and Dive Master. The specialty courses are tech diving, Deep Diving, Night Diving and Navigation are also available.
Diving Trips
Bookings for a full day diving trip can be arrange in the dive shops in Koh Chang Island. There are two types of diving trips from Koh Chang island : Day trips to nearby islands or longer day trips to some more distant diving spots close to Koh Rang.
The most popular diving trips are usually the closest one to Koh Chang island, similar to Hin Raab North, Hin Sam Sao, Koh Yuak, Hin Luk Bath, Hin Tai Nam, Hin Raab South. Usually, these diving trips begin out in the morning arround 9h00 a.m and take around 45 mn to reach the diving location. The dive master on board the boat utilize this time to provide basic instructions and prepare the scuba divers for the expedition. The price for this diving trip will be between 2500 up to 2700 baht per diver including transportation, food, softdrinks, insurance, diving equipment and two dives into two different spots.
Live aboard is not usually offer on Koh Chang island but some diving center arrange a 3 days non regular trips to Koh Kood Island close to Cambodia. Depending on the diving center, the trip’s length and destination can varies and a stop to Koh Mak Island (koh Maak) can be made. This scuba diving expedition allows night dives as well and the cost for this diving trip varies mostly depending on the duration and destination.
